But that's just a bucket with hooks, right?
Wrong. There is more going on here than a quick glance reveals. Please take
a closer look at our Spartan design. We think you'll find that while we skimp
on complexity, we splurge on functionality.
- Sophie Strap: Sophie's Idea. Makes the lid easy to remove. Each lid
is carefully modified to take full advantage of this feature.
- Storm-Proof Seal: Keeps your stuff dry. Tested in the Northwest U.S.
for years.
- Four-Gallon HDPE Bucket: A standard container in the manufactured
food industry. Once the orange juice concentrate, garlic puree, or salted egg
yolk is gone, what do you do with the plastic that contained it? It's a #2 tub
-- not recycle-friendly because of a strength additive required to give it rigidity.
We offer an alternative to the landfill. Very washable.
- Carrying Handle: Extravagant cushioning and rattle dampening is added
to the stock handle thanks to Boeing pneumatic hose waste. Cleaned and cut to
length, this handle augmentation allows for a secure lid stowing technique when
bucket loads grow beyond the four-gallon capacity.
- Reflective Film: 3M ScotchliteTM -- the
best available. They have large red reflectors for great nighttime visibility
on the rear and large yellow reflectors on the sides.
- Mounting Handle: When used in conjunction with the carrying handle,
pannier mounting and removal is the quickest and easiest in the industry.
- Non-corroding Metal Hooks: Won't rust; therefore, no toxic paint
needed to protect them. Lightweight and strong aluminum hooks are used and work well with most racks on the
market.
- Stainless Steel Nuts and Bolts: Wow -- expensive. But rustproof and
strong. Heirloom quality. Could have used rivets -- cheaper but not very serviceable.
With these nuts and bolts, any component can be replaced or transferred to a
new bucket with the most common bike tools.
- Recycled Plastic Lumber Hook Spacers: Soda bottles are melted down
and made into plastic lumber, then builders use the lumber, then we collect
their construction scraps and turn them into cute little spacers.
- Schuler Pinch Plate Assembly: Conrad's idea. Very serviceable. Custom-tune
your mounting tension here with the most common bike tools. Silicone-sealed.
Stainless S-hooks are added for racks lacking a lower mounting prong.
